Karen Black, RN, HIPAAP, is the quality improvement coordinator for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medical Management. She is responsible for planning and executing case management educational opportunities, oversight of URAC compliance and case management support.
Black entered nursing in 1982 and has served in many clinical and non-clinical roles throughout her career. Quality initiatives, accreditation and compliance activities have been an integral part in all of her staff nursing and nursing management roles. Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield supports quality in Arkansas through participation in the Arkansas Governors Quality Award. Black has served as an examiner in the process for six consecutive years.
