ABOUT YOUR PANELISTS:
Danielle N. Butin, MPH, OTR
Danielle Butin, MPH, OTR is the Director of Health Services for the East for Senior and Retiree Services of Oxford Health Plans a United Healthcare company. Ms. Butin has developed a number of innovative health screening, self-management, frail elderly care management and wellness programs. Prior to her current position Butin was the manager of health promotion at Oxford Health Plans.
Butin also serves as a member of the HMO Workgroup on Care Management. For the past 10 years, Butin has served on the faculty of the Occupational Therapy Department at Columbia University. Before joining Oxford, Butin held supervisory positions in geriatric psychiatry, community health and home care. She has published a number of articles in the field of aging in self-management strategies for dementia, depression and de-conditioning. In addition, Butin maintains a private practice where she specializes in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of older adults and their caregivers.
Butin received her Masters in Public Health with a specialization in Geriatrics and Gerontology at Columbia University and her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from New York University.
Kerry Little, M.A.
Kerry Little is a Senior Health Coach at Duke Center for Integrative Medicine at Duke University Health System. Little has over 10 years of experience teaching and working with groups and individuals with a focus on improving their well-being. From corporate presentations to one-on-one sessions, Little has helped clients lose weight, stop smoking, reduce stress, become physically active and improve their health and quality of life.
As the Senior Coach at DCIM, she is involved in cutting-edge healthcare and research. She also enjoys coaching clients to achieve the better life they seek and deserve. Prior to working at Duke, as an account manager with Johnson and Johnson’s Health Care Systems, Little designed and led a three-month weight loss program where Duke employees lost over four thousand pounds.
Little also worked as a health educator and manager at a top hospital-based wellness center where she designed and taught a variety of health programs for corporate clients and members of the community.
Little received her BA in health education from Elon University, and her master’s degree from NC State University with a focus on health behavior and her coaching certificate from Totally Coached.
Roger W. Reed, BSN, RN, FNP, PA
Roger Reed is the Executive Vice President, Chief Health Officer at Gordian Health Solutions. He has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, including: family practice, geriatrics, substance abuse treatment, health promotion management and research, healthcare administration, healthcare network development, education, publishing and entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Gordian, Mr. Reed was a partner in SLR Ventures, Inc., a healthcare venture company that successfully founded five healthcare-related companies during a span of seven years.
Mr. Reed was the author and Project Director of two W.K. Kellogg Foundation studies in health promotion – "Health Promotion Service– Evaluation and Impact Study" (1985), and "Health Promotion Service - Evaluation and Impact Study" (1990). These studies evaluated the effectiveness and cost-benefit of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana's employee health promotion program over a period of 10 years and are considered benchmarks in the field of health promotion research. The results of his research were successfully replicated at the Nuclear Test Site in Las Vegas, Nevada for Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Company.
Reed is a Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Physician Assistant. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Indiana University School of Nursing and an advanced degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He has been with Gordian since 1998.
